So many people wax lyrical about reverse mortgages

After hearing the acrimonious stories affiliated to a reverse mortgage and the truth is that every body seems to chat about the concept quite ruefully, I can not help but wonder whether this is because of the demographics of those pursuing home reversion. Even though the more mischievous refinancing loans to help the different companies have been hidden underneath the rug and dispelled as a less-worthy cause of upset, reverse mortgage information are now regulated fully by the FSA yet continuously has clouds surrounding it.
The difference between the two? One is targeted at every one whilst the other is pointed to over 55’s. It is this age-specific marketing that, I believe, has started the bad press. Targeting the plus 55s has the similar connotations of helplessness that comes with promoting fatty foods to children.
What concerns me is that in every other industry or position; older householders are thought of the most clever; the sage owls that most look to for help and admonition from. So for what excuse, when it happens to be anything online or any types of business product, do we treat the over 55’s with kid gloves? Interjecting like a valiant soldier to save them from their own decisions. Do we suggest for one minute that they are blindly falling for a reverse mortgage like mice? No I thought not.
